AT&T Locks Down iPad Mini 3 / iPad Air 2

Users who hoped to get the new iPad Air 2 from AT&T or AT&T iPad mini 3 and believed that these gadgets will come with an interchangeable SIM card. It looks like the carrier has decided to sell locked devices instead and users who have already got the latest devices complain that they received AT&T locked devices after they activated the SIM card on the carrier’s network.

The news that AT&T locks iPad mini 3 and the new Air 2 model quickly spreads the web. Customers share their impressions on different forums and via Twitter. The well-known Big Blue mobile company that also sells locked AT&T iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus to customers with a 2-year contract doesn’t offer the interchangeable SIM with the new gen Apple iPad line.

In other words, if you got the data plan offered by AT&T and purchased your iPad from this company you will not be able to switch to T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon or international networks until you unlock AT&T iPad mini or Air 2.

You can also find the official page on Apple that mentions the lock that comes to iPad Air 2 and mini 3 along with AT&T data plan. Thus it is not a secret and your only escape is unlock AT&T iPad Air 2 service or the similar procedure for the new mini 3.

If you haven’t purchase the new Apple tablet but think about getting it you might like to order it from a different carrier and not AT&T because other carriers don’t lock this gadget to their network only.
