Apple to Start Trade-in iPhone Program for Customers in China

U.S. customers are used to exchanging their old smartphones for new Apple models. Similar Apple trade in program in China should reportedly start in the future. The company is believed to cooperate with Foxconn and allow Chinese consumers bringing a working old iOS phone model to Apple stores in China and getting a new iPhone 6 or other smartphone version instead.

The Cupertino-based company is rumored to work with Foxconn to provide trade in iPhone in China and boost smartphone sales in this Asian region. This will be very similar to what is available in the United States.

Customers who have an original Apple iPhone [an old working model in good condition] will come to one of the company’s official retail stores in China and exchange their handset to the credit which they can spend for the purchase of a brand new iPhone model. This way the Chinese consumers will get a chance to save some money and buy a new ‘fruit’ device at a lower price. By the way, Apple has plans to launch trade in program for Android devices in the U.S. In other words, the company is extending its phone exchange options inside and outside its home country.

The program should be available in the end of March. Starting on March 31, 2015 Chinese users can visit their local stores that sell iPhone 6 and other Apple devices and bring in their old device to get a credit and buy a new smartphone cheaper.

All the exchanged old models will go to Foxconn. This company will repair the smartphones if this is necessary and resell them on Taobao, FLNet, eFeihu and similar sites. The high iPhone sales in China prove how important this country is for Apple future development and market share.
