Sony Ericsson Plans to Block iPhone Sales in the United States

The battle that we can call iPhone vs Sony Ericsson has started with the wish of Ericsson to block Apple smartphone sales in the U.S. The company has already filed several federal lawsuits against the Cupertino-based giant and wants to get paid for damages.


All the suits filed against Apple are related to patent licensing. Sony Ericsson claims that the iPhone manufacturer is infringing 41 patents that cover a lot of things, including wireless network technology for 4G, 2G and 3G. Some lawsuits are filed in Texas and others are ITC complaints.

Ericsson iPhone sales issue troubles the company so much it wants to block all sales of the iOS smartphone across the United States. According to reports, Apple is accused of using different application functions, livestreaming option, some design of components, UI software that rely on technology patented by Ericsson.

The deal between the iOS giant and Sony Ericsson was struck in 2008. The iPhone maker had to pay the company a licensing fee, but this deal has already expired and Apple didn’t want to set up a new contract.

Apple has also filed a lawsuit again the Swedish company saying that Ericsson charges too much for the 4G LTE technology.
