How To Disable Touch ID And Call Emergency Services With Power Button In iOS 11

If you have already update your device to the sixth beta of iOS 11 then you can try to disable Touch ID and call emergency services with iPhone power button. This is a new quick way to disable Touch ID on iPhones. When you press the power button on your device running iOS 11 beta 6 five times in rapid succession, you will be given an option to call the emergency services. By default this feature is disable but you can set it to automatically call the emergency services. When the requisite number of presses is complete, it brings up a screen that offers buttons to power off the iPhone, bring up your Medical ID and make an emergency 911 call.

Along with these options, there's also a cancel button. If you push the sleep/wake button five times and then hit cancel, it disables Touch ID and requires a passcode before Touch ID can be re-enabled. Touch ID is also disabled if you actually make an emergency call.

This is a very handy feature to use if you want to disable Touch ID on your iPhone for some personal reasons. Before iOS 11, the users could disable Touch ID only after restarting the device, placing an unregistered finger on the Touch ID sensor, or letting the device remain idle for a few days.

This feature will be useful for iPhone 8 owners as the next generation model is expected to be equipped with face unlock feature.

It is expected Apple will release iOS 11 update in September this year. Exept the ability to disable Touch ID and call emergency services with iPhone power button this new major release will bring a host of new features and improvements including revamped Control Center, updated design elements, drag and drop functionality, iPad dock, Siri improvements, peer-to-peer Apple Pay, Do Not Disturb driving mode and more.
